The veteran actor turns 76 today and talking about his film career, he has worked in around 200 films. He started his career in Bollywood as a lead hero in Geet Gaya Pattharon Ne (1964). Since then he worked in famous movies like Farz and Banphool and with his dancing numbers, he was soon known as the epithet of jumping jack.
He became a fashion statement after the song Mast Baharo Ka Main Aashiq became a hit. He is still remembered for his unique dancing style in Bollywood.
Currently, the veteran actor is a full-time producer with his wife and daughter and working for the TV shows and films produced under Balaji Motion Pictures and ALT Entertainment. He was also a judge of Jhalak Dikhla Jaa season 2, an Indian dance competition.
The actor has worked has worked in 90 films as the solo lead hero and 103 multi-star films as the lead hero. He has made guest appearance in around 26 films. The actor has given 121 box office hits which in itself a milestone for an actor.
Jeetendra’s birth name is Ravi Kapoor and he was born on 7th April in Punjab Amritsar
Very few people know that Jeetendra started his career as an actor when he was offered a role to play actress Sandhya body double in 1959 project, Navrang by V. Shantaram.
V.Shantaram gave him the break as a lead actor in his 1964 venture, Geet Gaya Pattharon Ne. He was the man who gave him the screen-name Jeetendra.
Jeetendra’s first commercial hit was 1967 spy thriller Farz. His dancing number Mast Baharaon Ka Main Aashiq from the movie earned him the nickname of Jumping Jack.
The actor was in love with beautiful actress Hema Malini once, however, she refused and he went ahead to marry Shobha Kapoor.
