There is no doubt people in India are religious and they worship their idols wholeheartedly with devotion. Yes, you can say that people are secular in India and you can also witness it during festivals. However, if you are busy in watching news channels where they say that people are no more secular and are intolerant, then you might miss the best part of India. To give you the flavor of festivals, today we have listed places in India where most of the devotees gather together to worship their idols.

The largest gathering is the Maha Kumbh Mela which takes place once every 12 years at Allahabad. It is one of the most auspicious events and attracts the highest number of pilgrims who attend the Mela to wash their sins.

Jama Masjid is one of India’s largest mosques and a huge number of devotees gather during the Islamic month of Ramadan. The devotees offer prayers to Allah and the festival ends on Eid.

The Rath Yatra of Lord Jagganath ( a reincarnation of Lords Vishnu and Krishna) once in a year leaves with his elder brother Balabhadra and sister Subhadra to visit birthplace and aunt's home. The devotees are placed in massive chariots and are pulled by devotees. To witness the glimpse of Lord Jagannath, millions of pilgrims take part of the yatra and it is believed that the one who touches the chariot is considered to be blessed.

The devotees carry the holy Ganges water in their kanwars on the shoulders and after reaching Deoghar (Babadham) they take a dip in the Shivganga to purify themselves and then the water is offered to Jyotirlingam. The devotees who offer water are in huge numbers and the sight is beautiful.

Ganesh Chaturthi in Mumbai is celebrated with great enthusiasm and devotion and is also considered city’s biggest street part. The towering idols paraded through the streets of Mumbai on their way to be immersed in the ocean.
