Glen Campbell, the indelible voice of popular music, as both a vocalist and guitarist has died at the age of 81 after a six-year long fight with Alzheimer's disease.
"It is with the heaviest of hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father, grandfather, and legendary singer and guitarist, Glen Travis Campbell, at the age of 81, following his long and courageous battle with Alzheimer's disease," the singer's family said in a statement.

Soon after the news of his death reached, celebrities, family friends and fans took to social media to express their grief.

The music singer is best known for his 1975 hit, "Rhinestone Cowboy”, "Wichita Lineman" and "By the Time I Get to Phoenix.” In a career spanning six decades, Campbell released more than 70 albums and sold over 45 million records.
Campbell is survived by his wife, Kim Campbell, and 8 children.
