Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s rule is over. He was disqualified by the country’s Supreme Court today over corruption allegations by Panama Papers. After the court declared the verdict, Sharif resigned from the post as prime minister of Pakistan.
According to the verdict, given by five SC judges, Sharif was disqualified on grounds that he is not deemed fit for office. "He is no more eligible to be an honest member of the parliament, and he ceases to be holding the office of prime minister," Judge Ejaz Afzal Khan said in court. The country’s top court has also dismissed Finance Minister Ishaq Dar, one of Sharif's closest allies.
Twitter users from the neighbouring country India came up with hilarious reactions soon after the news hit headlines.
