The former skipper of Indian Cricket team Mahendra Singh Dhoni is in news for past few days as Indian team failed to chase a meager total of 190 runs against West Indies. People started lashing out at the former skipper for scoring 54 of 114 balls. In the 5 match series, India is still leading with one match remaining to be played today. It is a rare occasion for every cricket lover in India who has witnessed Dhoni playing in such a manner. Dhoni has made India win matches several times in past and the stats prove it. There is no doubt that the man was in deep sorrow after the loss against West Indies in the 4th ODI. In a viral video on the internet, he is seen sitting in the dressing room and the disappointment can be easily seen in the eyes of the formal skipper.
I still remember the Word Cup finals against Sri Lanka when Ravi Shastri has said, “ Dhoni Finishes off in style.” Under the leadership of MS Dhoni as a skipper, India won all three ICC Trophies in the world: ICC World Cup (2011), ICC Champions Trophy (2013) and ICC T20 World Cup (2007). India was also No. 1 Test team under the leadership of Dhoni. People should cherish these moments, instead of pointing him out for a bad day.
While the blame game was on in the media, Sunil Gavaskar came up with his opinion about that particular match against West Indies. ‘’Stop Blaming MSD. It was a team failure,” Gavaskar told NDTV. I hope that Dhoni will make a comeback and prove the world that he is the king when it comes to finishing the match, in style. I feel that people should get over it and instead of criticising him; they must give him the reason to smile and make a comeback.
India will face West Indies in the fifth ODI at Jamaica today, as they look to clinch the series 3-1.
